Romans 8:9-16 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
This is a lesson on Teaching a New Christian about the Holy Spirit.
You could call it, What Every Christian Should Know About The Holy Spirit
This topic is so important – – – and it would be horrible if a child of God wasn’t taught what the Bible has to say about the Holy Spirit of God.
I hope a Bible study like this helps you be able to help those the Lord gives you to lead to Christ.
The Godhead/Trinity is God the Father, God the Holy Spirit and God the Son
God’s word teaches us that the Holy Spirit has all of the attributes of Almighty God.
Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:26-27 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
The Holy Spirit is in the Bible from cover to cover
Isaiah 43:11 I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.
Isaiah 45:21-22 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
There are many other verses but a very good one is
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Your Spiritual Birth was because of the Holy Spirit
John 3:5-7 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
The Holy Spirit REGENERATED you or brought your spirit to life
Titus 3:4-5 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
You were washed, made alive and renewed by the Holy Ghost.
You Heard the Truth – – You Believed – – You Were Sealed
Ephesians 1:12-13 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
The Holy Spirit dwells IN YOU – – you are the dwelling place of God
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
I Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
I Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
And The Holy Spirit Will Never Leave You
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Remember Ephesians 1:13 – – “sealed”
After He saves you, He witnesses with your spirit and gives you the peace in your heart that you are saved
Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
2 Corinthians 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
I John 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
I John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
God the Holy Spirit Dwells In You Now That You Are Saved, But God Wants You To Be FILLED With The Holy Spirit
Every saved child of God is on their way to heaven because they have placed their faith in Jesus Christ who died for them, BUT EVERY CHILD OF GOD IS NOT FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
Ephesians 5:18-20 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
The Filling or Fullness of the Holy Spirit is your power and strength
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Gasoline is to an engine, what the fulness of the Holy Spirit is to a Christian.
You are filled with the Holy Spirit when you yield or surrender to His control
Isaiah 44:3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
If I could help you love Jesus Christ and enjoy spending time with Him – – the Holy Spirit could fill and use you
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
If you will read your Bible and pray every day – – and see it as you are spending time with Jesus, then God can fill and use you
Acts 4:12-13 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:31-33 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
The Holy Spirit is THE COMFORTER
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
The Holy Spirit will guide you and teach you the Bible as you read it
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Make sure you read the King James Bible – it’s the only book God ever wrote – 2 Peter 1:21 – the others are imposters and perversions of God’s word and the Holy Spirit won’t use and bless them.
Greatest Unused Power
An American with an English gentleman was viewing the Niagara whirlpool rapids, when he said to his friend: “Come, and I’ll show you the greatest unused power in the world.” And taking him to the foot of Niagara Falls, “there,” he said, “is the greatest unused power in the world!” “Ah, no my brother, not so!” was the reply. “The greatest unused power in the world is the Holy Spirit of the living God.
Have you ever yielded to the Holy Spirit?
Have you ever asked God to fill you with the Holy Spirit?
Are you filled with the Holy Spirit?
When you were saved you received all of God and He held nothing back from you.
This is not a question of do you have the Holy Spirit, but rather, does He have you? Does He have all of you?
It is not zeal, talent, or scholarship, but it is God’s power.
Savonarola – I won’t preach until God’s power is here. – He waited 5 hours.
George Fox – Spent 2 weeks by himself trying to get the power of God.
If you’re filled with the Holy Spirit your Christian life will be changed.
Bad attitudes, negative talk, criticism, and gossip go out the window.
