Man has always had to deal with the issue of nakedness or modesty.

Genesis 3:6‑11           And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

7              And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

8              And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

9              And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10           And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11           And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

The first issue Adam and Eve had to deal with was clothing or modesty.

Not alcohol, drugs or immorality but covering themselves

There is a connection between sin and Nakedness

A child reaches the age of accountability when they begin to be ashamed when they are naked.

Exod 32:22‑25    And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.

23           For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

24           And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

25           And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

When people run from the Lord they take off their clothes.

 

There is another episode

Luke 8:27             And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

After the demons were cast out:

Luke 8:35             Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

The farther that a person gets away from God the fewer clothes they will be wearing.

The longer a person is away from God the more clothes they take off.

The more perverted a people get the more clothes they take off.

The more perverted a movie the more clothes they take off.

The more perverted a magazine the more clothes they take off.

The more perverted a, “Entertainment Establishment,” the more clothes they take off.

Sin and Immodesty go hand in hand.

 

Look what happened to Paul as he preached in Jerusalem.

Acts 22:22‑23                      And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

23           And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,

To mock the man of God, the message of God, and the name of God.

As a disapproval of Paul’s life, they took off their clothes.

They wanted to exemplify their rebellion toward the man of God’s message.

 

A church is known by the dress of it’s ladies.

1 Timothy 2:9‑10        In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;    10           But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

Church or life isn’t supposed to be a contest of what you can put on – – –  but what you cover up.

Adorn ‑ To put in order; an orderly arrangement.

A women is supposed to give careful thought and planning to her wardrobe.

Modesty‑ Balanced or Harmony

A lady should dress so that no one part of her body or her clothing draws attention to itself.

Wild hair styles excessive make‑up or jewelry, tight sweaters or skirts, unbuttoned blouses, a dress or skirt that is to short, shocking designs or colors all speak of an immodest dress style.

Anything that is distracting is biblically immodest.

Apparel ‑ a let‑down flowing garment.

This defines a proper skirt or dress

This definition eliminates shorts, trousers, tights, mini‑skirts, or tight‑ fitting garments for women.

Shame facedness ‑ Quick to blush

The feeling a little child has in the presence of an adult.

Do you dress to entice the eyes of men or do you blush to think that evil eyes would feed their wicked minds on your form and figure?

Sobriety ‑ Self control

Sobriety says, “I must dress to show my character not my body.”

I must show Jesus in me.

I must dress to show I love Jesus, the ,”Hidden man of the heart.” not the world.

 

We justify our sin incredibly.

No girl would walk through her neighborhood with only her underwear on – – – But if you lessen the amount of material in that garment and paint it wild colors and put sand under her feet and let her stand next to a hole in the ground with water in it on a hot day, it all of a sudden becomes acceptable.

 

1 Peter 3:3‑5            Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

4              But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

5              For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

You would be surprised how a sweet spirit makes you beautiful.

You would be surprised how modesty makes you beautiful.

Deuteronomy 22:5        The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

This is one of the most despised and debated verse by women who do not want to forfeit their right to wear pants and trousers.

What does this verse say?

1.)           There is some kind of apparel that “pertaineth unto a man.”

2.)           A woman is not allowed to wear it.

3.)           There is something called “a woman’s garment.”

4.)           Men are not allowed to put on that woman’s garment.

5.)           Any man or woman who does so is an abomination to God.

Abomination ‑ something God hates.

What are abominations to God?

Homosexuals

Incest

Adultery

Witchcraft

Sorcery

Women who wear a man’s garment or

Men who wear a woman’s garment.

This abomination is for today like all the other abominations listed in the Bible are for today.

Britches or Breeches in the Bible are a man’s garment.

Exodus 28:42          And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness;

from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach:

Skirts in the Bible are a woman’s garment.

Deuteronomy 22:30           A man shall not take his father’s wife, nor discover his father’s skirt.

God has never changed what he hates.     Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not;

Even the world knows the difference between a man’s garment and a women’s garment.

 

Nakedness in the Bible is not nude – – – Nakedness is being improperly clothed, not unclothed.

 

A lot of people think that if you wear a dress or have convictions about your clothing that you are a super Christian or something.

But this is basic.

Isaiah 47:1‑3             Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.

2              Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers.

3              Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man

There are certain parts of your body that are to never be seen by anyone except the one you marry.

I have seen more men get mad at this than women.

But picture a husband saying this to his wife,

“You’re not going to wear dresses all the time, you will wear pants it shows more of your crotch and thighs and derier than a dress.”

 

Men in the Bible are commanded to not lust.

Women in the Bible are commanded to dress right.

 

Dr. R. G. Lee said – – “A nation never rises above the spiritual level of it’s women.”

I have ladies say; “well I will only wear pants in the home.”  – – – – Is it all right to treat other abominations that way?

Is it all right to commit adultery only in your home?

Is it all right to drink a beer only in your own home?

Is it all right to practice witchcraft in your home?

Is it all right to practice idolatry in your own home?

Ezekiel 22:26           Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

Modern Christianity says – – – – Who cares? It doesn’t matter. Truth is relevant.

Ezekiel 22:30‑31     And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.        31           Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.

There are certain things you are not supposed to do.

Men are supposed to have short Hair.

1 Corinthians 11:14‑15   Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15           But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

Shame – disgraceful, vile.

Jesus could not have had long hair because He would never have done something that was disgraceful or vile.

 

Separation is not important for the salvation of an individual. Separation is important for the salvation of a nation.

What a Christian chooses to indulge in as far as the world is concerned does not change the fact that they are on their way to Heaven or Hell: It will damn their nation but not their soul.
