It takes determination to live for the LORD – Philippians 1:20 & 1 Corinthians 15:57-58 & Psalm 57:7
You can fall from your own steadfastness through false teaching – 2 Peter 3:17-18 & 2 Timothy 2:18
This is not talking about the Perseverance of the Saints described in the 5 points of Calvinism that teaches because of your “election” you will persevere.
