CALVINISM/AUGUSTINIANISM – Covenant/Reformed Doctrine

PREDESTINATION – the false teaching that God created some to be eternally saved and some to be eternally lost and they can’t do anything about it.

Calvinists call us and everyone else Armenian and we are neither because both teachings are wrong.

Sovereignty taken too far leads to many false teachings, two of which are:

1 – God becomes the author of and causes sin

2 – Because a person is supposedly saved before they created, when they place their faith in Christ it proves that they were born again before the foundation of the world.

In Calvinism, you are born again and then you believe – this is exactly opposite of what the word of God teaches

The following doctrinal pillars of Calvinism are described and the Scripture below them show why they are not true.

Total Depravity – Man is so lost, he can’t even choose to get saved

Matt. 23:27   John 5:40   John 12:32   Revelation 22:17

Unconditional Election – God chooses to give some eternal life without any reason.

Romans 10:9-17     Acts 16:31   Ephesians 1:4   John 15:16

Limited Atonement – Christ only died for those who He elected to be saved.

John 1:29; 3:17; 4:42   1 Timothy 2:5-6   1 John 2:2; 4:10 & 14   Heb. 2:9

Irresistible Grace – God’s grace to save a person cannot be resisted

Acts 7:51 1 Corinthians 3:11-15     James 1:12     Proverbs 1:20; 29:1

Perseverance of the Saints – You are preserved by God because you are His elect and you will persevere.
